History

By the beginning of the 70’s seismic survey became a major method of exploration of oil-and-gas-promising areas. In 1973 Ministry of Oil Industry of the USSR, giving crucial role to technical upgrading of national seismic survey, decided to establish in Gomel a specialized organization for developing and manufacturing of non-explosive seismic sources, which started to work in July 1973 and in December of the following year was reorganized into Design Office of seismic equipment.

38 designers, workers and employees laid the foundation of collective scientific production association "Seismotekhnika”, A.S. Shahinian, A.G. Asan-Jalalov, A.A. Pevnev, A.P. Androsenko, V.G. Poznyakov, P.P. Manoylenko and others stood at its origins.

In 1974 the number of employees was 107 persons, the total area of buildings was 5,000 m2. 1974 was a year of the beginning of development of new pulsed sources of seismic signals SR-32 and hydraulic vibration sources such as SV-10/100, not inferior to the performance characteristics of the best foreign specimens.

In 1975 14 surface sources of seismic signals SR-32 and two sources of seismic vibration of SV-10/100 had already been made.

In 12 years the company grew almost tenfold.

The enterprise was under active construction: in 1985 production area was already 15 700 m2, the company employed more than 197 units of technological equipment. Number of employees amounted to 1,046 people. In the structure of the company there were 40 departments, laboratories, creative teams, experimental and pilot production. 43 topics of research and development work, 134 items of geophysical equipment, stands and spare parts were developed.

From 1976 to 1987 – Design Office “Seismotekhnika” regularly presented its products at the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR. During this time, it exhibited such products as:

  • Surface pulsed seismic signal source SI-32;
  • Sample vibratory seismic sources of arctic type SVA-10/100;
  • Vibroseis source SV-10/100;
  • Control System BUSV / HS;
  • Lubricators L-210;
  • Pilot model SV-10/150;
  • Software "Vibrotest.

Serial production of seismic sources SV-10/100 began in 1980. By 1987 more than 100 vibration sources SV-10/100 had been made and passed to geophysical trusts.

 

Engineering

 

Since 1977 they started the development of the workover unit ARS-32, a pilot model of which was produced in 1981.

By order № 275 as of May 31, 1988 Design Office “Seismotekhnika” was transformed into the Scientific-Production Association of seismic technology with pilot production. In addition to production of vibration sources, the enterprise produced 134 items of various new vehicles, equipment and facilities for geophysicists. During this period 113 patent applications were filed, 74 inventor's certificates were received. 14 applications for industrial samples were drawn with 13 certificates received.

They continued further in-depth development of vibration sources:

  • 1987 - SV-10/180
  • 1991 - SV-16/150, SV-10/180 MP SVS-12/150
  • 1992 - SV-22/150, SVP-20/80, transport base SBGSH-snow-marsh-mobile
  • 1994 - SV-20/120, SV-16/120, North option on BMP, BUSV MT / GS MP
  • 1995 - SV27/150

Apart from this, various types of equipment were developed:

  • 1991 - lubricators L-7/50M, L-140/50, logging unit SCS-5
  • 1992 - unit for borehole seismic KSR-5
  • 1993 - workover unit A-50M
  • 1995 - unit for recovering of stuck pipes ALP, standalone logging lift ALP-5500

Nevertheless, the rupture of economic ties between the countries of the former Soviet Union severely hit the economic stability of the enterprise and the industry as a whole.

The deepening economic crisis forced to abandon the narrow specialization and to seek new lines of development. An invaluable aid in this situation was the inclusion of the enterprise in the state program of import substitution.

Was developed - the unit for transportation of heavy solutions APTR-12 - in 1998, block pump unit UND-1, wellhead platform OB-53M - 1999, drilling rig VB-53M, block for fuels and lubricants GSM, mud cleaning unit BKO, technological platform TP-20, jet pumps type NS-605 and NS-608 - 2000, pump units ACHF-1000, catwalks for A-60RT, A-50M - 2001, mud cleaning and disposal unit "BOBR", a set of well equipment KOIS-5000 - 2002, pump-circulation unit ANTS for A 70RT and HRI 300, mobile coagulation-flocculation plant KFU-34 - 2003.

At the same time further development continued in the area of geophysical equipment - production of vibration sources of seismic signals SV-30/120M on Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant transport base was started. In 2004 the company produced 23 units of vibration sources with pushing force from 20 to 30 tons.

All these measures not only helped to preserve the enterprise, but also laid a solid foundation for further sustainable development, and more importantly gave the opportunity to keep a team of professionals.

In 2004, according to the state program the company was reorganized into Open Joint Stock Company "Seismotekhnika”. Thanks to successful cooperation with oilmen the company was able to quickly master the manufacture of a wide range of oilfield equipment that meets all modern requirements, that is:

  • Mobile drilling rigs l/c-125 t
  • Mobile units for repair and drilling of wells l/c 80 - 100 t
  • Drilling mud cleaning systems
  • Mobile Power Plants
  • Blocks of fuels and lubricants
  • Technology Platforms
  • Other accessories

In 2008 - 2010 years of "Seismotekhnika" was certified as compliant with the international systems ISO 9001 - 2009, ISO 14001-2005, ISO 18001-2009.

In 2011, an Italian company Drillmec SpA - the world leader in the manufacturing of oilfield equipment – purchased 19% of Seismotekhnika’s shares. This event opens a new stage in the development of the company.

In 2013, the Italian company Drillmec S.p.A. becomes the major shareholder (51%) of JSC "Seismotekhnika".
